How can people say that Michigan is better then Florida?

There is no way to determine. Fact is Michigan lost to Ohio St. and didn't win the conference. I'm not a fan of either Florida or Michigan, but I like the fact that Florida will get a shot. I also believe Florida will beat Ohio St. because there is simply more talent. Back to the question.

That is why we need a playoff. Nobody can say Michigan is better than Florida or Florida is better than Michigan. They didn't play each other!!!

Based on their schedules it shouldn't have even been a question who was #2. The BCS was wrong for keeping Michigan at #2 for that long anyways. That's why the controversy got started.

I think the NCAA needs a playoff system similar to the NFL. Every conference champion (yes even the mid majors) gets a bid, as well as a few wild cards for 1-loss teams. All that crying about too many games makes no sense. The players won't care. They will play more than 20 games (including preseason) in the NFL anyways so just let them play.

They can't, not with a straight face.

Michigan didn't prove on the field that they're better than Florida is. The Gators had a tougher schedule, beat more teams with winning records, beat more teams in the top 25, and won their conference title.

Proof of how weak Michigan's schedule was? None of the teams they beat have wins over a Top 25 opponent, in or out of conference. None of them.

You missed the point in that the real problem is with the Big 10 (11 really). They need 12 teams with two divisions and a conference championship game. Ohio St did not have to play Wisconsin which is a farce. Also, if this system were in place then everyone would have seen the matchup again of Ohio St and Michigan in the conference title game (assuming Ohio St could have beated Wisconsin). The same goes for the PAC 10. These two conferences need to get with the program.
none from Ohio....teehee
Yes sir the BCS is complete BS but you are wrong OSU is gonna romp Florida, but the whole thing with Michigan it would have been unfair to OSU to play them again because if they lost then technically Michigan would have been National Champs but yet OSU beat them in regular season
I agree that the BCS is wrong, not on any specific subject just plan wrong. They do need a playoff style determination of who is best, it just makes sense. And I must disagree with you, Florida is going to be destroyed by Ohio and Michigan will in turn destroy USC. I agree that Florida had a tougher schedule, but they will not lose to Ohio within 3 points, I give Ohio at least 7+ in their coming victory.

Also I'm a diehard U of M fan so I'm biased GO BLUE!!!!!!!!
Well, I don't care about sports but I live in Michigan and I can personally say that the state itself sucks.
There's no way to determine who is better between Florida and Michigan which is why this year a play-in game to the national championship would have been outstanding. Let them fight for the right to play in the national championship in one of the regular Jan. 1 bowls.

The voters were very hypocritical keeping Michigan at #2 and then changing course when their final vote would have meant a re-match. I don't think OSU should have to play Michigan twice UNLESS the Wolverines were the clear #2. Still, it all goes to show that the BCS system is no better than the voters and the voters are subject to manipulation and politics.

As for strength of schedule, Michigan and Florida both played tough schedules. In some years the same schedule would have favored Michigan; in this year it favored Florida. If you've got an outstanding team it is that regardless of who you've played; the only thing SOS tells you is how well you've PROVEN how outstanding you are. Unfortunately with Michigan and Florida both in conferences you're locked into a number of games and, like I said, some years those games are tough ones and some years they are not. Michigan has no control over how good the rest of the Big 10 is just as Florida can't be responsible for how the rest of its SEC opponents will be. Both conferences have a number of twinkies (Big 10: the Illiana teams, Illinois, Northwestern, Indiana and Purdue; SEC: Vandy, the Mississippi schools, Kentucky) that you just have to live with.

If you look at the non-conference schedules -- which you DO have some control over (and I say some because schedules are often made years ahead of time and a game scheduled in 1996 that looks pretty competitive can turn out to be much less so in 2006) -- you'll see that Michigan played Vandy, C.Michigan, Notre Dame and Ball State while Florida played So.Miss., UCF and Western Carolina. The only standout in that crowd is ND and Michigan handled them big time; the other schools were mostly embarrassingly bad.
in college football, a "tough schedule" is about 75 percent hype. just because most media outlets said the sec was the best conference this year doesn't make them the best conference.

michigan would be #2 because they played two close games all season - ball state (not sure what happened there) and ohio state. they destroyed every other team they played. and before everyone jumps on that one, remember, michigan typically builds a 14-21 point lead and sits on it. they dominated wisconsin (the number 6 team in america, by the way) and won by 14. the penn state game was 17-10, but anyone who watched it can tell you that it was never close. penn state had no chance.

florida, on the other hand, beat some atrocious teams by a lot and played a lot of close games against average to below average sec teams.

unless florida can find some way to beat osu deep over and over, that game will not be close. initial prediction: osu 45, florida 28.
Michigan and Ohio State stopped playing football games two weeks, during that time USC and Florida played for Championship in the Division. Ohio State won each game they played. The other teams lost 1 or 2 more games. Florida played well last Saturday and got lucky to be picked #2 in the BSC.

Wisconsin did not play Ohio State, but their only loss was to Michigan and they are ranked #7 in the BSC.
You think Florida has more talent than the Buckeyes...You have no clue what you are talking about..The only smart thing you said in that long miserable question was about college football needing a playoff...Ohio St. and Michigan are the two best teams in the country...Everyone knows that except you! I'm sure you can find topics on the left of your screen that will better suit your intelligence..
ok well 1st of all

everyone jumped on the bandwagon for ohio state

and then im a tennessee fan so i have to hate florida
Doesn't matter. OSU rocks and that is that.
I think they are florida only got it on extra games
The Wolverines lost one game by three points, and to whom? Ohio State, the #1 ranked team in the BCS all year. The Gators lost one game by ten points, and to whom? Auburn, who was at the time ranked #11 in the BCS. 'Nuff said. I have no idea what the coaches who ranked USC over Michigan were thinking...

P.S. Someone is forgetting that the Wolverines DESTROYED Notre Dame, who was ranked #2 at the time, and also beat #6 Wisconsin by two touchdowns (handing the Badgers their one and only loss this year).
